Unprotected Sex? Afraid you might get pregnant?

EC is a safe and effective way to prevent pregnancy — even after sex! Use EC if:

  • Your contraception didn’t work
  • You had unprotected sex
  • You were forced to have sex

Emergency Contraception is now available 'behind the counter'.  That means you must ask the Pharmacist for it and show proof that you are over the age of 17.

If you are age 17 or younger, can can get  Emergency Contraception (EC) directly from some pharmacies.  Some Pharmacists have special training that allows them to ask you about your health history and then write and fill a prescription for EC.  You don’t need to visit your doctor or clinic first.

To find a Pharmacy that can write and fill a prescription for Emergency Contraception if you are age 17 or younger  click here.  It's a good idea to call first to make sure that the pharmicist on duty is the one with the special training.

If you are unable to find a participating pharmacy nearby, go to

or call 1-888-NOT-2-LATE to find the closest clinic or doctor providing EC.
